The Driving Tests

A learner driver is required to take a Theory Test and a Practical Test. Use the links below to book your tests, or let us book a test for you.

 

The Theory and HP Test

Book On-line

The Theory Test consists of 50 multiple-choice questions similar to the examples available here. Each question requires you to select one or more answers from a list of possible answers.  A score of 43 out of 50 is required to pass.

 

The Hazard Perception Test consists of 14 one minute video clips, that contain various motoring hazards.  Anywhere from 5 down to 0 points are awarded depending how quickly the hard is seen. A score of 44 out of 75 is required to pass.

 

The result of this test s available within a few minutes of completing both sections.  

 

The Practical Test

The Practical Driving Test is a test of driving ability, and lasts about 40 minutes. Up to fifteen  minor faults are allowed; such as not making proper use of the indicators or failing to check your mirrors. The test includes a section to assess basic understanding of car safety.  The result is given upon completion of the test. 

 

PassPlus Training

PassPlus Site

After passing your further training is available that builds upon what has been learned for the Practical test. This training is called PassPlus and includes such things as motorway tuition, for example. One of the biggest advantages of PassPlus training is that it usually entitles you to a significant discount on the cost of your insurance. 

PassPlus does not require another test.
